Chicken Parm Burgers Joy Bauer Top 10

Who doesn't love a good chicken parm? It's a classic Italian dish that always hits the spot. That's why I was so excited to find a healthier version of it from Joy Bauer! Her recipe for Chicken Parm Burgers is a game changer.

Ingredients:

- 1 lb. ground chicken breast

- 1 cup chopped onion

- 2 tablespoons chopped garlic

- 1 cup chopped fresh basil

- 1/2 cup whole-wheat breadcrumbs

- 1/2 cup low-fat mozzarella cheese

- 1/2 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- 1/3 cup marinara sauce

- 4 whole-wheat hamburger buns

- Cooking spray

Chicken Parm Burgers

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and coat with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, onion, garlic, basil, breadcrumbs, cheese, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each one into a patty.
  4. Place the patties on the prepared baking sheet and coat the tops with cooking spray. Bake for 25 minutes or until the internal temperature of the burgers reaches 165°F.
  5. When the burgers are just about done, spoon 1 tablespoon of the marinara sauce over each patty and place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each one. Return the burgers to the oven and bake for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the sauce is heated through.
  6. Serve the burgers on whole-wheat buns topped with additional marinara sauce and fresh basil, if desired.

- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Joy Bauer's Healthier Crispy Chicken

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and coat with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Place the beaten egg in another small bowl and the panko breadcrumbs in a third small bowl.
  3. Dip each chicken strip first in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, then in the egg, and finally in the panko, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to coat well.
  4. Place the coated chicken strips on the prepared baking sheet and coat the tops with cooking spray.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is crispy and browned.

Ingredients:

- 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breast

- 1 tsp. kosher salt

- 1/2 tsp. black pepper

- 1 onion, chopped

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 32 oz. jar of salsa verde

- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed

- 1 can corn, drained

- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

- Lime wedges, for serving (optional)

Joy Bauer's Slow-Cooker Salsa Verde Chicken Chili

Instructions:

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper and place it in the slow cooker. Top with the onion, garlic, salsa verde, and chicken broth. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours or on low for 6 hours or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  3. Using two forks, shred the chicken in the slow cooker. Stir in the beans and corn and cook for an additional 30 minutes or until heated through.
  4. To serve, ladle the chili into bowls and sprinkle with cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side, if desired.

- 4 whole-wheat burger buns

Joy Bauer's Better-For-You Burgers

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each one into a patty.
  3. Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Coat with cooking spray.
  4. Grill the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place some of the roasted red pepper and spinach leaves on each patty to warm through and wilt, then serve on whole-wheat buns.
